Can you remember the last time you had a good nights sleep?One where you fell asleep easily, slept through the night and woke feeling refreshed?
If you can’t, you are not alone.Lots of people suffer from poor sleep and insomnia. In fact, insomnia is one of the most common sleep disorders.
Modern living may affect our sleep, with many of us being chronically stressed, working late into the night, exposed to increased screen time, doing shift work, not sleeping when our bodies want and relying on stimulants such as coffee, tea and energy drinks.
Other conditions that contribute to insomnia include; anxiety, depression, pain, nutrient deficiencies,headaches, migraines, gastrointestinal disorders, restless leg syndrome and menopause.
Why do I need a good nights sleep?
On average we need 8hrs of sleep a night. Having regular good quality sleep is important for:
- Allowing the body to repair, heal and detoxify
- A healthy immune system
- Good mental health
- Coping with stress
- Concentration, attention span and decision making
- A healthy body weight,
- Heart health (research suggests insomnia increases the risk of high blood pressure)
- Preventing diabetes
There has to be a better way to live life! One where you wake up every day refreshed, positive, energetic, and ready to face the world and go to bed every night feeling accomplished, happy, and healthy.

By helping determine the cause of your disrupted sleep and insomnia. Then educating around good sleep hygiene practices and healthy eating to promote sleep. As a naturopath, I may also prescribe herbs and nutrients that aid sleep, that help regulate the circadian rhythm, improve stress resilience and help support the nervous system.
